G-CLASS CONNECT: Tell us a little about your early career.
SHAN GEORGE:
My early career in the movie industry started as far back as 1996. That was when I gained admission into the University of Lagos. I got introduced to the movie industry by Blessing Iremi, now Mrs Blessing Stevens…in a movie titled ‘Wing of Destiny’. I later got a role in an NTA soap titled, ‘Thorns of Rose’.
G-CLASS CONNECT:
What motivated you into acting?
SHAN GEORGE:
Really, it wasn’t that I was initially endeared to acting. It just happened by chance. I was just trying to find a means of earning some money. I remembered being paid 20,000 Naira for my first movie. It was alot of money back then. After that, I said to myself, why not continue to make more money!
G-CLASS CONNECT:
What kind of challenges did you faced in your acting career?
SHAN GEORGE:
There were several challenges. One of the acting challenge I had initially, was being able to play the role of someone you are not. And being able to convince those watching, that you are the person.
G-CLASS CONNECT:
What gives you inspiration?
SHAN GEORGE:
My inspiration naturally comes from God…Yes, God inspires me. Things in my environment and resilient people inspires me.
G-CLASS CONNECT:
How do you combine your acting, with your political appointment?
SHAN GEORGE:
Becoming a political appointee came to me by surprise. I really appreciate the Cross River State governor for recognising all my efforts and hard work in the movie industry all these years. Yes, I balance my role as an actor, political appointee, state ambassador and chief executive of Shandels Productions very well.
G-CLASS CONNECT:
Finally Shan, what legacy do you desire to leave behind?
SHAN GEORGE:
Personally, I will like to be remembered as a mother. Not just for my biological children alone. I want to nurture the young ones. I am basically a mother to a whole lot of children and young people, some in their twenties.
G-CLASS CONNECT:
Thank you Shan…Looking forward to joining you and others soon at the Calabar Carnival.
SHAN GEORGE: Yes, you are always welcome.
